Nick’s Pub II

Wings Reviewed: Sweet Chili

Genre: Place Known for Wings

Overview: This is my second visit to Nick’s Pub. If you’d like to know more about the establishment, read the first one.

Similar to the first visit, I went during a Cardinals game and got some good deals. This time, I had eaten dinner before I went, so I only got one variety of wing.

Well… this came out of nowhere. On my last visit to Nick’s Pub, I reviewed four different varieties of wings, and all of them received a “Good” rating. I ordered the Sweet Chili wings expecting something similar to an Asian Zing sauce from Buffalo Wild Wings or maybe a soy sauce based coating.

Instead, I got something that you’d expect to find 10 minutes before closing at the bottom of a pan at the saddest Chinese buffet you can imagine. I would make comparisons to some specific dishes, but A) I never pay attention to the names of dishes at Chinese buffets and 2) The late General Tso doesn’t deserve that kind of insult.

The sauce was sweet, but kind of watery. There was no spice of any variety. Unfortunately, there was plenty of this sauce and to make things worse, they were dry and gross on the inside. I got a few crappy bites of chicken that I had to spit out as well.

I respect Nick’s Pub and still recommend going there for their wing selection, but don’t get these.
