Quincy Street Bistro

Surprisingly, I have never been to Quincy Street Bistro, the well reviewed restaurant located in south city at the corner of Gravois and Quincy Street. I happened to be in the neighborhood and looking for food on Thursday night and thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to check it out!

The menu is full of tempting items that I wanted to order but for the sake of the reader, I went for the wings. Also, they have a happy hour from 4-7pm where wings are $8 instead of $12. In addition to a great food menu, QSB also seems to have a great selection of craft beer, and those were also $1 during the happy hour. I got a Civil Life Brown. Excellent.

The wings, regularly $12, come in a modest 3 options: Hot, Sweet Chili & Bourbon BBQ. As I am prone to do, I went with the hot option. The other two sound great though, and I think I saw an order of the Bourbon BBQ that came out of the kitchen looking incredible. I shall be back to take a look at these!

The wings came in an attractive deep bowl and were well sauces, with a pool of the good stuff sitting at the bottom. They were breaded, and definitely resembled more of a fried-chicken style than a traditional buffalo wing.

These are easily the best wings I’ve eaten since I resumed the Wing Review. They are pretty large in size (not normally a plus for me!), but the chicken was juicy and delicious. The breading was incredibly flavorful and held its light crunchiness despite being slathered in sauce.

The sauce itself was also incredible. It was thicker and had an orange color that had the look of a Sybergs mustard sauce. The taste of sauce brought a great amount of spice without being overwhelming. There was a little bit of tanginess to it. To be honest, this sauce has me a little stumped in terms of what is giving it its unique flavor but I love it!

These wings are excellent. This place seems excellent and it is a shame I haven’t been there before. I hope to be back soon to check out the rest of the menu and also get another order of wings!
