Wings Reviewed: Wings
Genre: Grocery Place
Overview: Just a heads up: This is going to be the least informed review I’ve ever written. I will do a proper follow-up later where I fill in some of the missing details, but these are wings that people need to know about.
Baumann’s Fine Meats is a butcher shop located near the bustling intersection of Manchester and Brentwood. I’ve only been in there two or three times, but every time I go in, I’m treated to delicious smells and friendly customer service.
This is the part where my knowledge runs out: I don’t know how much their wings cost, I don’t know what their official title is, and I don’t know if there are any other wing options.
I’ve eaten Baumann’s wings 5 times or so in the past at my parents house for family gatherings… so that’s what I’m attributing my ignorance to.

BAD • FAIR • GOOD • GREAT • BEST
These wings are just so tasty! As you can see by the picture, they are dry-rubbed in some kind of wonderful, and I’d suspect smoked as well. These are the first dry-rubbed wings reviewed here, I believe.
Whatever is going on in this rub is fantastic. The wings are sweet, they’re spicy and the way the flavors interact is great. I’d imagine there’s some brown sugar involved, and some type of pepper, but beyond that I won’t speculate (because I’m not very good at it). I have had one person who would describe themselves as a complete spice wimp in the past say that these were too spicy, but these should be within the comfort range of most.
Normally I am critical of large wings, and these are certainly on the larger side, but it works better on a smoked wing than a fried one. These wings are juicy and flavorful all the way through even after being reheated for service after they were brought home.
Pick up these wings, and they are sure to be a hit for events ranging in scope from Superbowl Party to you sitting on a couch by yourself as you shamelessly lick your fingers clean for the umpteenth time. The only thing that keeps them from being best is that I’d like them served hot out of the smoker to me so I can eat them hot without having to reheat. Either way, these guys are winners.
